The Southern Lakes includes the communities of Carcross, Marsh Lake, Teslin, Atlin and Tagish. Aboriginal people make up a majority of the population, with members of the Teslin Tlingit Council and Carcross/Tagish First Nation.

The Southern Lakes Region is famous for it's great fishing, mainly because of three reasons:

• High fishing success rate
